Elizabeth: The Golden Age

Why is it called "The Golden Age? What was the greatest thing that Queen Elizabeth does during her reign?

  1. Actually I don't know what was the greatest thing that she did but I know why it's called the golden age. I think that century was the beginning of the renaissance, where all the darkness from the Medieval times was left behind and the discoveries came out to shine.

  2. Well, during the Elizabeth's kigndom, music, literature and poetry were growing, things that the catholic curch would forbidden. England explored new lands, and had economic stabilization, making this country very rich among the other european kingdoms. Also in this time, england achieve a sertain peace between catholic and protestant beliefs.

  3. I think that it was called "Golden Age", because it was a period of great progress for England in different aspects: Cultural, technological and health, mainly. The fact of winning the battle against the Spanish Armada, the most influential and vigorous than that then, certainly gave United Kingdom, and Elizabeth I, a great reputation, that in fact we could say, persists to date.
