Here comes the sun - The Beatles (By Romina Herrera)

1-Who created this message?

This message was created by “The Beatles” and written by George Harrison, its guitarist. This band was originally from Liverpool and their glory days were during the 60´s. This song “Here comes the sun” belongs to the album called “Abbey Road”. This is one of my favorite songs!

2-What creative techniques are used to attract my attention?

The lyrics are very attractive because of the message they give. It is a beautiful song that invites us to dream and to live happily. When I hear this song, it makes me think that all my problems are gone. I imagine that the spring has arrived (happiness) and the winter has passed. Nothing is wrong anymore.

3-How might different people understand this message differently?

The people understand the message in different ways because we think and feel in different ways. But I think the message is very clear when it say, “Little darling, it´s been a cold lonely winter, little darling, it feels like years since it´s been here. Here comes the sun, here comes the sun, and I say it´s alright”.

4- What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented in, or omitted from, this message?

This song invites us to leave our prejudices behind and to be happy with our lives. Just look at the sky, see the sun, and realize it´s ours!

5-Why is this message being sent?

Because they notice people have many problems in their lives, so this message is sent to say:”hey! Don´t worry too much! Just enjoy life and be happy!” The Beatles always wrote songs to contribute in making the world a better place.

Declare Independence by Bjork

Who created this message?
This message was created by Bjork with the colavoration of Mark Bell.

What creative techniques are used to attract my atention?
In this video you can watch clearly the message of independence that Bjork wants to send , with a direct letter and symbolism. Bjork transmits the message through the ropes tied to a country, she tells them that they have to become independent and that they have to start their own culture. Each person is different and independent as well as each country is different and independent. Bjork helps to understand this message.

How might different people understand this message differently?
The tittle of the song is clear but you might understand it in different ways. Obviously one of the meanings is the independence of the countries, but the message come to me with a different meaning too. We all are different, we can be part of a culture, part of a group of people, part of a everything that you want to be part of, but nobody is your owner. We are completly different ones from others and we can´t be afraid of that reality. We need to accept us and accept the others with tolerance.

What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented in, or omitted from, this message?
This song helps you to understand that you have the control of your own life. Also you need to know that there are different kind of people and you have to be tolerant and show respect to others. This song gives you the confidence that you need to take control of your life.

Celine Dion –My Heart will go on
                                                            By Nicole Jael Aguilera

James Roy Horner is an American composer and conductor of orchestra. He is principally engaged in composing music for movies.
He used romantic melody perfect for this movie (Titanic) and beautiful lyrics.
Also pictures and images from the movie.
Maybe there are people who like this music because they love titanic, and they understand the meaning of real love and cry when they see this movie. Also there are people who dislike it, because they prefer another kind of movie, so it’s boring for them.
This song reflects the values of love and hope. It’s omitted from this song hatred and treason that were in other characters from the movie.
This message was sent because James Roy wanted to reflect feelings of Rose for Jack after he died.

the thing that attract my attention was the lyric and how Morrissey attempts to simulate the pain of this animals that don´t deserve to die for pleasure.

Some people could understand this message as an offensive for people who don´t care about this problem and they have to watch this kind of pictures or videos that they don´t want to see because they ate meat and maybe think that the singer shouldn´t impose his way of life or his thinking to the others.
On the other hand maybe they are people who think that he is a crazy.

Five Key Questions (by Astrid Campos)

1.- who created this message?
This message was created in 1991 by Kurt Cobain (1967-1994) who was the vocalist of the grunge band Nirvana.
2.-  what creative techniques are used to attract my attention?
Although this song was made in 1991 doesn’t have a music video made by the band, it only exists parts of concerts and videos made by fans; so in this video the creative technique used to attract my attention was mainly the fact that the video is a concert of them and, for obvious reasons,  I’m never going to have the possibility to assist to one. Besides this video  shows the strength with the one Nirvana performed. Others things that attract my attention were the fast melody, the lyrics of this song and the guy who’s jumping and spinning around them
3.- How might different people understand this message differently?
I think that people that don't understand the whole message or maybe they think that the conformism it’s an issue that it doesn't matter, that it isn't relevant, that you can live with the things just like they’re now and nothing or nobody needs a change, that everything is just all right and that just follows the masses. Or people with other view or opinion that not necessarily agree with the message of the song, or maybe people who find in this song another meaning
4.- What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented in, or omitted from, this message?
The message in this song is a critic and en attack to conformity and how people obey and follow others just because of it, it’s about being authentic, follow and defend your own ideas and change your mind, because the conformism in this society creates problems and its needs a change, now people see and do without a good reason.
5.-  Why this message is being sent?
I think that it’s because people it’s ok  with everything and like I said before the most of them aren’t authentic and do what others say or do, the title of this song is stay away and it goes for that people it’s like stay away conformist, it’s being sent for change and take conscious of people’s way to be.

Five Key Questions (By Julio Díaz)

1) Who created this message?

This song was written by Jonathan Michael McLaughlin and Jamie Houston in 2007. The video is property of The Island Def Jam Music Group.

2) What creative techniques are used to attract my attention?

Multiple techniques are used. The song has a powerful melody (I love the sound of that piano) and I think its lyrical is deep. The video is focusing on the singer Jon McLaughlin and his physical appearence (mostly his face and eyes). But the most important part of the video is the girls that appear on it, all different, just to make remarkable that all of them are beautiful.

3) How might different people understand this message differently?

I guess people may understand this message differently if they have or not self-esteem issues. I think it's obvious that the message is sending to those girls that don't appreciate themselves, but it is also sent to their parents, their friends and all people around them. However, in a quick read, most people may think that this song is about a girl that feeling all alone, rejected by her parents or her boyfriend. I prefer to believe that the meaning is the first I thought.

4) What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented in, or omitted from, this message?

In my opinion, the most important value in this message is the self respect. No one has to change for what other people think. No matter how lost and confused you are, you don't have to feel that way.

5) Why is this message being sent?

I definitely think that this message was sent because most of girls feel insecure for who they are. All girls are pretty, but they don't know it or don't believe it. And these girls constantly feel depressed or sad because of articles and photos in magazines, or by comments from friends or relatives. They feel like a disaster, but they have to know that they are beautiful just the way they are.

Five Key Questions

NEVER GROW UP - TAYLOR SWIFT

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/A_cGeb8K1BA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_cGeb8K1BA&feature&noredirect=1

Who created this message?
This song was created by Taylor Swift. She's a singer and songwriter. The video was created by a fan of hers.

What creative techniques are used to attract my attention?
The lyric of the song is so sad, it talks about when we grow ap and we have to leave our families. The elements that attract my attention are the images of children with their parents and siblings, I think that captures the attention, and makes receptors to think about their own families.

How might different people understand this message diffently?
If this song is listened by a rebellius teenager, or by someone who has never had a family, it will not make sense. But, if it is listened, maybe by someone who's away from his family or has lost a loved one, this song will bring much melancholy, and perhaps feeling like to want to have done some things diffently.

What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented in, or omittes from, this message?
I think the most impotant value that this song gives to us is: family love is more important than everything, and that we have to show our family how much we love them, because, someday we'll have to run away to make our life, our developing like a independent person.

Why is this message being sent?
To show us how we are whit our families, specially with our moms, she's the one person that always be with you for ever, and she´s who more loves you, and how sometimes we don't do what she tells us, and we don't understand her. Whe She tells everythig us, and makes all, only for our welfare.

Five Key Questions

Earth Song - Michael Jackson

1. Who created this message?
This song was written by Michael Jackson at a hotel in Autralia in 1995.

2. What creative techniques are used to attract my attention?
The main techniques that attract my attention are the images that we can see in the video that represents what is happening today in the world, also the way Michael Jackson interpreted the song and the words used to describe this.

3. How might different people understand this message differently?
People can understand this message as way to become awate and start doing something to save our planet from destruction before it's too late. Others may think that this is an opportunity to show us the real situation of helplessness that different tribes are living.

4. What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented in, or omitted from, this message?
In this song we can find lifestyles like civilizations at war, poverty different tribes, pollution in industrialized countries, the devastation that man has done to the nature, the killing of animals and the hope of a peaceful world.
This song is the cry of nature for all the damage that man has caused.

5.Why is this message being sent?
I think that this message is being sent because is very important that we become aware of what's happening in the world as a result of the hand of man.
It's time for us to know the different realities in the world, specially the famine in the Horn of Africa, the effects of the global warming - melting ice, droughts, shortages, etc. -.
Although this song was written in 1995 is fully applicable to the year in which we live, 2012, and we can see that in 17 years the situation hasn't changed.

Five key questions (by Jimmy Vera)

1. Who created this message?

The message was created by Eddie Vedder, vocalist of the well-known grunge band "Pearl Jam".

2. What creative techniques are used to attract my attention?

The images of this video are very moving even if you have not seen the movie to which they belong to, "Into the wild". Sean Penn, the director of the movie, asked Eddie Vedder personally to compose the whole original soundtrack for the movie and so he did. The sequence of images showing landscapes, animals and nature in general are the most attractive features of the video, along with the fact that the movie is based on a true story. (For further information, read the description of the video).

3. How might different people understand this message differently?

As John Lennon clearly explained in his song "Imagine, there are different types of people, and among them, we can find those who are dreamers and those who are not. Cristopher McCandless (the main character of the movie) was a dreamer, someone who questioned why people is so bad to each other so often, and someone brave enough to give up to his money (and give most of it to charity), material possessions in general and to his whole thus far well constructed life. Some people who are slaves of possessions and material goods and money might think that this guy was crazy and that he didn't know anything about life, but I prefer to think that we can all live from the simple things that life gives us just as he did until his last day on earth.

4. What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented in, or omitted from this message?

The main value I can distinguish is consistency, to be able to act according to your values and ideals.

5. Why is this message being sent?

This message is being sent to criticise our sick and materialistic society. Most people in the world are slaves of money and tend to act in order to achieve big amounts of it, often harming other people. The sense of "common good" has been lost and I believe that this song was created so we can somehow restore it.

PS: Those of you who haven't watched the movie, I strongly recommend you to do it.

Wake me up when September ends- Green Day

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjNJmwwf7QA

1.       Who created this message?

The message was created by Green Day and the song was written by Billie Joe Armstrong, the vocalist of the band.

2.       What creative techniques are used to attract my attention?

The creative techniques used to attract my attention were the story of the couple, a lot of drama and strong scenes that shows the cruelty in the wars. Also, the melody of the song begins very emotional and melancholy and it ends very loud to show the change in the story.

3.       How might different people understand this message differently?

I think there are many people who don’t understand how much you can lose in a war. I mean, it’s not just lose the war, is more than that. In the video, the protagonist took a risk for his country, but he knew that he could die and with that, lose the love of his life. Many people understand the message like something necessary for the nation, but they can’t see that is a risk to their lifes and affect other lifes too.

4.       What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented in, or omitted from, this message?

Basically, I think in this message are represented love, loyalty and hope. However the most important point of view is “say no to the war” because is just damage for all of us.

5.       Why is this message being sent?

This message is being sent to create conscious about our ideologies and make us think about if we really want a world like this.

This song is recorded by Michael Jackson and written and composed by Glen Ballard and Siedah Garrett (Americans songwriters).
