This is a film from India, tells the story of a Muslim man with Asperger syndrome and his wife after the attacks of September 11, 2001. The protagonist is named Khan, and suffers many situations of discrimination because of their illness and also to their culture. This movie is told in a very true reality that is still present in the United States ; DISCRIMINATION OF CULTURES IN USA .In this film you can see the power of the stereotype against people of other cultures, in this case the stereotype is applied to Muslims as terrorists just because their traditions and appearance. The protagonist must confront discrimination, the death of his son for being Muslim and believe that it belonged to a family of terrorists, and the rejection of his wife, he travels around the country to tell the president that the he is only Muslim and he is NOT A TERRORIST.

Moreover, this film shows different cultures within the same country and different realities.

I leave the trailer to be seen and I hope you take the time to see this movie because it is very very very real.

Bend it like beckham

Although I have seen this movie a few times, I still find a very good story. Represents a very popular and realistic way the differences with the Indian groups living in uk. I think this movie shows us the realities of different cultures living within their homes, shows a deeper view of life of these groups in their daily lives and the situations that must pass through only because they belong to a different culture.
I think a very good story.

this movie i found very interesting. Is a movie that tells a beautiful story form the perspective of indigenous groups from USA, so realistically shows the events that suffered the indigenous people. This is one of the most realistic and compelling films i've seen on the subject of discrimination and abuse of natives.
I thinks it´s a movie that totally recommend.

Thunderheart

I found this movie very interesting because it shows the reality of some indigenous people and the descrimination to them. Native American is a really interesting topic, and seeing this kind of movies and then making presentations like we are doing now, is a good way to learn.
I think that we should watch more about this movies but like documentaries, I saw some documentaries about Native American in "History Channel" and I founded very interesting, so this can be another good way to learn more about them.

I saw this movie a couple of times and I found it really fun. I thought that it was really interesting that we can see it because it's about culture in young people, like us. I think that this kind of movie is a good way to teach us, and see in a different way culture, apart from been more fun and interesting. This movie show us two different girls: withe and black, and they became really good friends. The movie show us that between them no stereotypes exists, and this topic was what really called my attention.

Bend it like Beckham: society, culture and stereotypes.

Basically the film revolves around the following idea: What happens when a woman does not comply with what is socially expected of her as a woman?

There is a deep conflict between Jesminder and her family, because she is not fulfilling the role that is assigned as a  Hindu woman. Cook, married, have a family, being a homeowner is the plan that her culture "promises", but clearly Jesminder has other interests and motivations that go beyond and away from the family that loves them.  She is motivated and passionate about football, an activity that is in our culture is for men and women, but in her culture is something impossible to do,  just for being a woman.
Throughout the film there are many examples of this " disembedding
" of gender roles, for example when Jesminder’s mother tells her that she has played enough, “ you should start behaving like a woman” or when Jules’s mother , despite reproach her not much sd Jesminder’s mother does , insists on removing her from the world of football and lead the world of traditional femininity.

I think it's
an interesting film, perhaps with a slightly predictable end, but that mixes several themes: stereotyping, prejudice, homosexuality, struggle to achieve a dream, traditions and mainly as two very different cultures  face to each other.
In my
opinion the director of this film tries to portray us as public the contrast of two cultures, two worlds so opposite and ask the question, Why not try to mix two cultures and why we have to be so rigid with our vision world?

Bend it like Beckham

Well, today the movie was very fun. It shows  a problem where two traditions are mixed and they can't survive together in a interesting way. I think mainly this problem is caused because of traditions and the importance that a woman has in the Indian world. For example, Jess couldn't be with Joe because he was white and traditions say that it must to be an Indian man. In my opinion, it is important to respect cultures in general, but that doesn't mean that we have to separate life because of traditions, we just have to respect one each other. Also, I think nothing, not even traditions, should  make us choose something to do in life that we don't want to. I know that is another culture, but I don't agree with that. However, I really liked the end of the movie because it was pretty exciting.
