Five key questions about your favourite video.

1. Who created this message?
All I need, is a song by a french electronic band called "Air".The vocals of the song are provided by Beth Hirsch, who co-wrote the song along with Air. The music video was directed by Mike Mills.
2. What creative techniques are used to attract my attention?
One of my favourite technique that the video used to atract my attention was the idea of having a young real skateboarding couple, telling how much they love each other, their afflection and relationship. Showing what they do in a normal day, as if the camera didn't exist. So that makes the video more real and caught my entire attention, it's like another view of what love is. That made it my favorite video, and also because now i'm having a fantastic relationship, so the video reflects what i'm having it now, that two or three years before, I didn't know it.
3. How might different people understand this message differently?
I thing that different people might understand this message differently if the concept of video is not like this one. People that may like videos with choreography, different places, unreal situations, etc. Or people that dont't believe in love and find it stupid or an unnecessary video. And if they don't believe in love, they won't be able to recognize the main idea of the video, that's true love.
4. What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented, or omitted from this message?
I think that some values that are represented in this message is the idea of having a healthy love, of taking care about the other person and give it all the necessary love, I'm not talking about gifts, money, cloths, etc. I'm talking about, like the video, sharing things, feelings, and emotions, and one way to value all that is with love. It can be represented in some many ways, but in this case we're talking about love. The lifestyles that are represented in this couple is a normal lifestyle, they go to the skatepark, and they try to spend every minute with each other. My point of view from this video, despite that if they broke up or continue, is that you can feel and see all kind of feelings that could help you in a moment of your life, for example, I saw it three years ago, and it doesn't mean anything for me. This year I saw it and it totally change my point of view, tomorrow can be different, but the lesson for me, is that you have to enjoy very single day. Like the song said: " All in all, there's something to do, all in all there's something to give, all in all there's something to live, with you....."
5. Why is this message being sent?
In my opinion, this message is being sent because the director wanted to get the people really emotional and wanted more people's interior lives. When I read some opinions about the video I could realize that the audience really reacted to it. So, as a conclusion, I think that the director and the vocalist wanted to express in a very simple way, true love.

Welcome!!!

This is a space for interaction that we have created as part of our class. We hope this becomes a platform to express freely, exchange ideas and reflections and share materials and links that can help us expand our knowledge about the cultural diversity of the Anglo Saxon world.
Here some general guidelines:
  • You should initiate a minimum of two discussions/entries on any of the topics we will cover in class. You need to have one posting done before mid-terms and the other at least two weeks before final exams. Do not wait until the end of the semester to engage with the blogging community.
  • You should respond to at least two entries posted by your classmates. Your response could support, expand and/or contradict your classmate´s opinion presenting a clear argument and using some evidence to illustrate your point.
  • You should produce high quality entries that further discussion and reflection
  • Here some tips for your entries:
  • You are free to write the first few entries in Spanish, but after mid-terms entries should be only written in English.
  • Review your post before submitting it.  Check your spelling, grammar and even your use of language. Make sure you do not offend anyone with your comments.
  • Use clear and academic language. Avoid sarcasm and profanity.
  • Respect yourself and your readers ‘time. Do not post unnecessary materials or get your comments linked to unsuitable sites.
  • Blogging is a community activity and as such it requires from you to get involved. Reply to your classmates only if you feel you have something “smart” to say. Avoid posts that simply confirm or reject information.
  • Use pictures and/or media to reinforce your point not just for “decoration”.
